Her parents already had too many children. And she was a girl. “They wanted to just toss me out,” but her grandma, a Christian, pleaded for her life. In the end an Aunt and Uncle, who already had two sons took her in as their daughter. She is Chinese. She is adopted. But not under common circumstances. This is my friend, a beautiful young woman with excellent English and a new, growing faith in Christ. I am only the second person she has ever told her story to. I listened as she opened up about the pain she feels and the inability to forgive her birth parents for not wanting her. I shared about the Holy Spirit. How it is the one who transforms us by grace and love to be able to love and forgive others. In our own strength is it entirely impossible! We lifted her needs to Papa, and asked him to fill her and give her strength to be able to forgive. Maybe today she can only tell two people, but I see her growing and sharing this story as a testimony to Father’s commitment to give us a new identity, Him. He forgives our debts so we can forgive our debtors. Let us walk in His power.
